Jose Lopez

Rochester Institute of Technology

Jose, as an American Latino, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Marlton School of the Deaf in Los Angeles where he was involved in a wide variety of leadership, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities such as Cross Country, Varsity Boys' Basketball and Volleyball, and Drama Club. He was captain of the academic decathlon team and participated in the Gallaudet Academic Bowl Competition, both regionals and nationals, at Gallaudet University. He was also in student body government for three years. Since graduating, Jose has attended Rochester Institute of Technology where he is working on his Bachelor of Science in Web and Mobile Computing. He loves engaging his passion with technology, in which he explores the innovations that can contribute to helping the Deaf community. He landed the recent summer internship with Sorenson Communications in Salt Lake City for the software engineering position and is currently pursuing this position after his graduation in May 2020.
