Emma O'Neil-Dietel

Smith College

Emma is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is a junior at Smith College where she is a double major in World Literatures and Spanish. She also has a concentration in Archives Studies. She holds leadership roles in several arts and music clubs, including the Writer's Flock and Ukulele Club. She also plays fiddle in the Celtic Music Ensemble. For the past three years she has been an intern at the Smith College Historic Clothing Collection where she curates public exhibits of the collection's 19th and 20th century garments. Emma has taught writing at a variety of summer programs, including Smith's Young Women's Writing Workshop and WriCampia Sleepaway Camp. She has also interned at the Library Company of Philadelphia, a distinguished archive of early Philadelphia history, and the Smithsonian Museum of American History. She has a passion for the arts, as evidenced by her numerous endeavors, including writing plays. She culminated her sophomore year at Smith by writing and performing a comedic play about her life as someone with significant hearing loss. Emma plans a career as a writer and curator or archivist.
