Kaitlin Bertrand

University of California, Irvine

Kaitlin, from California, has long been interested in and excelled in dance, receiving awards for her work while achieving a 4.7 GPA in high school. She was involved in a local dance company as well as her high school’s Dance Team. She was involved in leadership roles as well. She’s also been involved with health care groups, including involvement in her school’s Health Care Club (where she was Treasurer) and being an intern in San Diego’s Internship Program for healthcare. In addition to the above, she received her International Baccalaureate Degree at the same time as her high school degree.
Kaitlin will be attending the University of California, Irvine this fall. She plans to major in biomedical engineering, with an eventual goal of attending medical school. She’s overcome several other medical problems besides hearing loss (e.g., visual loss). Her letters of recommendation were stellar, with comments such as “I find myself challenged to think of another student in over 30 years of teaching that is more dedicated and self-motivated than Kaitlin.”
