Jacob Mackinnon
Rochester Institute of Technology
Jacob Mackinnon, from Massachusetts, will be attending the Rochester Institute of Technology with a goal of becoming a software engineer to “help solve some real-world problems.” Jacob got an A+ in every course except one, while taking honors and AP classes.
He was quite busy in high school, particularly around eSports. He was involved with his high school’s eSports team all four years. He also was one of the organizer’s of the school’s Chess Club. In addition, he was a member of the National Honor Society.
Jacob received numerous awards. Some examples follow. He took 3rd place in the state in the SkillsUSA Web Design competition. He was awarded the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents Award of Excellence for showcasing engagement
in learning, strong academic aptitude. He received the Outstanding Vocational Student Award of Excellence his senior year for strong engagement and excellence in his vocational field. He also designed an application for the Carpentry program which allowed students to check out tools with a designated system to replace the use of an Excel spreadsheet.
