Jadyn Scott
Community College of Denver
Jadyn Scott is from Colorado, and will be starting his second year at the Community College of Denver this fall. He is majoring in veterinary technology and plans to become a veterinarian. He’s well on his way to that goal as evidenced by his work to date. He had a stellar high school career, with a 4.0 GPA (graduated magna cum laude) and a 3.7 average so far in college. He’s been accepted into the National Honor Society in high school and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in college.
Jadyn is currently employed as a veterinary technician extern, where he works directly with veterinarians to gain experience in the field. In addition, he’s a volunteer as an Open Space Natural Resources volunteer for Aurora Parks, Recreation and Open Space. As an Open Space Steward, he’s been trained to spot and monitor bald eagles in their native environments in the City of Aurora. He also cares for animals at his local conservation center.
Jadyn plans to work at the Wild Animal Sanctuary, once he completes the pre-requisites, and eventually plans to get his degree in Animal Science from an accredited institution. He notes that he’s a pioneer in that there are few other African-American role models in his field, just like Louise Tumarkin was one of the first women physicians.
